Personas for Second Life

Description:

Linden Lab, the creator of Second Life, had extensive expert knowledge about Second Life's users and ecosystem. As an actionable tool to guide product, design, technology, and marketing decisions, I developed a set of personas.

To create these personas, I employed a variety of data collection techniques including:

  • Interviews of internal Linden Lab stakeholder and experts
  • In-world interviews with long-term users (>1 year in Second Life)
  • In-world interviews with new users (<5 data-preserve-html-node="true" hours in Second Life)

With this data and draft personas, I conducted a day-long internal workshop to confirm, focus, enhance, and finalize 4 personas for Linden Lab. I socialized these personas they were leveraged by internal projects and external design firms.
